"The Experiment" is a micropower broadcast radio station serving Iowa State University, Campustown, and surrounding areas of Ames, IA at 102.1 on the local FM radio dial.
ExperimentFM is local, non-profit, non-commercial, and community-powered.
ExperimentFM is dedicated to bringing voices to the Ames radio dial which the community otherwise wouldn't have access to. We do this via music and via insightful public affairs programming.
ExperimentFM's music format is dominated by an eclectic mix of music, some of which you won't be able to find anywhere else on the radio dial. Blocks of jazz, blues, and ambient music programming find their home on ExperimentFM.
And, yes, ExperimentFM features local music.
ExperimentFM's news, information and discussion programming format includes such nationally syndicated programs as
Democracy Now!,
Free Speech Radio News, and
Alternative Radio. ExperimentFM is Ames' only source for these programs on FM radio; you won't hear these unique viewpoints and quality discussions anywhere else
(or at least few other places) in Ames.
Listener input is strongly solicited not only regarding music and programming, but also concerning where you're listening from, what your reception is like, and if there is anything ExperimentFM can do to further improve your radio listening experience.
