What You'll Hear on ExperimentFM
When not airing regularly-scheduled news and public affairs programming, ExperimentFM maintains an "iPod shuffle on crack" rotation of indie, popular, and local music.
Some of the music is unusual, and some of it you might be familiar with. ExperimentFM's playlist includes but is not limited to music which may be labeled: jazz, blues, folk, world fusion, new age, classical, modern rock, indie rock, oldies, classic rock, soft rock, or theatrical music. Let us know if we forgot anything.
7pm News/Public Affairs Hour...?
ExperimentFM is considering adding a
new hour of news and public affairs programming at
7-8pm on most weekdays. This would replace the music which currently occupies this time slot.
The programming found here would be very similar to the socially and politically-aware programming already heard from 5-7pm Monday through Friday... along the same lines as
Democracy Now!,
Free Speech Radio News,
Between The Lines, and
CounterSpin.
We know there are many ExperimentFM listeners who would value hearing more
news and
discussion from alternative viewpoints, regarding overlooked issues which affect our democracy, our media, and under-represented groups and viewpoints in our culture.
We're also aware that an equally important constituency of listeners value ExperimentFM for the
diverse selection of music heard on ExperimentFM most of the day, much of which we can't find elsewhere on the FM dial.
What are
your ExperimentFM listening habits? What would
you be most likely to listen to between 7-8pm weekday evenings? Is this the only time convenience allows you to listen to music on ExperimentFM? Or are you disappointed when the discussion ends at 7pm and you wish there was more?
